Ma, Look What I Got: Banana-rama

I'm just gonna come right out and say it: I am the MAN. Well, wo-man, I guess. By now you know that I'm always on the prowl for a good deal (much like how I imagine Dolly Parton is always on the hunt for sequined jean jackets), but the one I ended up with last week was ferocious. Heck, percentage-wise, it's the best deal I've ever gotten. Let's see the photo.

There I am, posing like a fool because I had just tripped over my own foot, but also wearing my pretty new dress. It's a thick jersey cotton, so it's soft but won't get stretched out when I sit on the train. The seams that are supposed to hit the waist ACTUALLY hit my waist this time, and it's my trusty narrow silhouette in a cool color. Perfect.

It was already on sale when Hubsey and I got to Banana, though I don't remember that price anymore. Maybe somewhere around $45. Clearance items were an additional 30% off that weekend (surprise!), AND we marched in with a $25-off coupon. When it was all said and done, the dress was $4.99. Later, I peeled off the sale sticker and looked at the original price: $130.

OH SNAP!

If my math is correct (and that's always a pretty big if), then I paid just under 4% of the original price. And this is my new personal best. Like an Olympian, it's my new number to beat.

What's the best deal you've gotten lately? Do you think Olympic shopping would be cool? I'd watch it.

  1. Dang! You beat me and my $9 dress. Originally I don't know how much, then on clearance for $49 (+ tax), minus my $50 gift card. Gold medal for you!

  2. Wow! I don't think I have ever done that well. But I did get 4 pieces of jewelry at a garage sale for $1 and I get to upcycle them.

    Congrats.

  6. First of all, you are gorgeous. Secondly, I LURVE that dress and can't wait to get my pre-preg bod back (or, um, new fit mama bod) so I can start wearing pretty clothes again. Great steal!

my best deal to date is probably a purple satin butterfly-embroidered dana buchman jacket originally priced over $500 which i got for $56 at filene's basement but that's still only 10% of original! you are the wo-man indeed!!
