On the Cheap: Oscar Inspired

Was anybody else kind of let down by the Oscar fashion last night?  It was just meh.  People didn't look BAD per se, but it was nothing special.

Until Hailee Steinfeld showed up:

I love this.  LOVE.  There were rumblings of a few people not really liking it, but I think it's perfect.  She's 14, for Pete's sake!  If you're ever going to dress like a princess, the day you attend the Oscars as a freshmen in high school would be it.  (And I think she got to help design it, which is even more awesome.)

So now I want to be 14 again so I can wear it, too.  Of course, I'll have to wait until my time machine is ready, but in the meantime:

The ruffled shirt/dress/tunic (I guess it depends on your height) is $44.80, the rose earrings are $9, and the tulip clutch is $17.

I also thought Cate Blanchett looked fab, even if nobody else would wear her dress without looking insane.  But that's part of her charm.

Were you inspired by anybody last night?  Bored to tears, perhaps?  Missing Bijork and her swan dress, just to make things interesting?

  3. I also really loved Hailee's dress and yes - total snooze fest. My MIL was over though, so no channel surfing for me.
