Here's something funny I just learned: Hubsey LOVES shabby chic decor.
We wandered into a shop the other day, and to be honest, the Hubs looked a little bored. But on the way out the door he goes, "You know all the white furniture in there? It's awesome!"
Say what?
And then a few days later, we strolled through Pottery Barn and it was pretty much the same thing. He wants a white buffet when we buy a house.
Clearly, he means business.
Now, I'm not going to let him turn the condo into a cottage, but we have a lot of dark wood in Casa Ronchetti, so a bit of freshness will make for a nice contrast.
Hubsey doesn't have a nightstand on his side of the bed (because he "didn't need it" and now puts all of his stuff on the floor), so perhaps he'll like this one. $110.
A friend is taking our desk in May, so that means I can choose one with a smaller hutch to allow for more wall shelving. $206.99.
We also need a new dresser. Like, yesterday. The one we have was in my childhood bedroom, and let's just say I didn't understand the use of coasters back then. I think Mr. Shabby would approve of this one. $195.
Do you have any white/shabby/French furniture? Where'd you get it? Any advice on places to skip?

LOL. I'm sure had he known the style was called 'shabby chic' he may have tried to hid his fondness of the style more. It is a very clean and simple design so I could see why men would like it.
ReplyDeleteI'm jealous you have a guy with such good taste :p
I can't help you all my furniture is black! Looking at some of those pieces though, I agree a little something light might brighten up my place!
ReplyDeleteI am a huge fan of painting furniture, it's great if you don't want to make a big investment. I buy stuff from yard sales for under $10 then a little paint and voila!
I'd be thrilled to discover that my guy liked shabby chic!! me = jealous.
ReplyDeleteA shabby chic hubby! Love it! Although not sure that the nightstand will work because we each have one and yet the stuff still ends up on the floor!
ReplyDeleteBrittany, I'd LOVE to paint furniture, but we live in a condo that doesn't have any garage/driveway space. So I guess I could do the painting part, but all the sanding beforehand is another story.
ReplyDeleteI do love shabby chic. I have 0 pieces of it myself, because I'm more of a mod/retro gal, but I do love the aesthetic. So cute that your husband likes it. :-)

Alessandra, my hubby's nightstand must be defective as well.
ReplyDeleteThe pieces you've picked out are nice-- I like! I am always seeing white furniture at the thrift store, too.. And good looking furniture there for $30 or so that could be painted white, since you're the crafty type.
i got my long white dresser at pier 1 ! i had been looking for one for quite a while and stumbled across the perfect one. other than that i found it hard to find white furniture. i love the first nightstand you posted, it looks like vintage :)

ReplyDeleteThat is funny, I could just imagine your Hubby looking bored in the store (with mine right along with him, I think it is a male trait (He!He!)
We are big Pottery Barn fans, the lines of their furniture is timeless and it appeals to both sexes :)
Have a lovely Pancake Day :) T.
I cant beieve your hubs likes it, thats fantastic! Best place to shop is locally, on craigslist and paint it up!
