My office has a dress code. It's nothing too strict, because certain departments are allowed to wear jeans everyday (thank god), but I'm still getting used to dressing like a young professional. Perhaps because I don't feel like a professional? Wait, that sounds bad.
I used to work at a radio station and people could just show up in whatever. Dirty sweatshirts? Yep. Baseball caps? You betcha. I wasn't quite THAT casual, but still, switching over to a "real" office was a big change.
Blue striped tunic, marked down to $22.99, felted wool computer bag $68, mermaid locket $26, and J. Simp. floral pumps, $59.95.
Does your office have a dress code too? Any weird rules? (We're not allowed to wear sandals that go between our toes, even if they're not flip-flops.)

I really like that top. I work at an ad agency, so the client facing people are fairly business, but the copywriters and artists are all over the place, from project runway to a polo and khaki shorts. I am pretty much in the middle, jeans with something to dress it up.
ReplyDeleteOooh, such pretty finds! I'm a stay-at-home mom now, and the one thing I miss about having a job (besides the paycheck, of course) is dressing up to go to work. Kind of hard to be motivated to take a shower and put on a cute outfit when you know you're going to stay at a home with a baby all day, and he sure doesn't care what I look like! :-)
ReplyDeleteRachel @ Maybe Matilda
Lulu, it's the same idea here. Salespeople have to be fancy, and most of the upper management rock suits everyday, but the rest of us are kind of left to our own "business casual" devices.
ReplyDeleteThose shoes are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteAt my office, it's business attire, all the time, for every department. We have to wear hose with anything - even if we have on pants, must have on knee highs or trouser socks. There is NEVER a casual Friday or a casual day at all. So, I'm always on the search for cute, business attire!
ReplyDeleteLove that stripey tunic and LOVE that shell locket :)...we have a pretty casual dress code at work, no jeans (except Fridays) but everything else is a-okay :)
ReplyDeleteNice finds! Those are very cute shoes. Like, Rachel said, I do miss getting dressed up to go to work. I always loved "jean Fridays" at my school, and now that every day is jeans day, I miss my wool pants. Go figure!
ReplyDeleteI also gave you a blog award! Stop by my blog to grab it! :) http://bythebookpaper.blogspot.com
Paige! That sandal rule is very weird, as I sit here at my desk with my "toe-loop" Birkis on. Granted, I'm not in the courtroom, but still...
ReplyDeleteWe have a length requirement on capri pants. They can't be more than four inches above the ankle, and people have been sent home for that, but every now and then I see a girl running around delivering files in the courthouse wearing a really short dress, black tights, and above-the-knee pirate boots. I think she looks way more casual than someone with slightly short capris, but I'm not in charge, darn it!
