Guess what movie we finally saw on Saturday? I'll give you some hints: it's a period piece, Hubsey had a nice nap in the middle (and almost fell out of his chair), and it has the name Jane in the title.
Yep, Jane Eyre!
It. Was. So. Good. They condensed the entire story (and I do mean the ENTIRE thing) into two hours. Most versions make up some weird crap to go in the middle when Jane--spoiler!--leaves Rochester, but this one was the real deal.
Love, love, love:
A photograph of the English countryside, $18, a demure lace-collared dress, $56, an unusual grey cameo and pearl necklace, $40, and a vintage teacup, $4.
I could go on and on about how amazing it was, and that's how you adapt a book for the silver screen, and how I wish the Harry Potter people had hired this guy because it IS important to explain who the Marauders are--but you should just go see it for yourself.
Have you seen Jane? Seen anything else lately, good or bad?
I saw it this weekend too. It was beautiful! The setting is just gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThe dress you picked is perfect! The collar could have come from the movie.
i haven't seen it, but I LOVE period pieces, the costumes just make me so happy! i will have to put it on my to see list :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen it, but I'd love to. I'll probably end up waiting for DVD or the dollar theater, sadly, but it sounds like it will be worth the wait. We did go see Scream 4 this weekend, which I had fun with :)
ReplyDeleteIt's one of those movies that won't be diminished by seeing it at home on a smaller screen, but I'd have gone batty waiting that long. :-)
ReplyDeleteAlso saw Insidious with one of my friends--skip that one.
Jane Eyre is one of my most favorite books! I read the copy that was my mother's way back when so that made it even better! I'll definitely have to see this version of the movie!
ReplyDeleteOh god I love period pieces. I think I've watched every single one offered on Netflix Watch Instantly. I saw Source Code this weekend. It was ok...then end was too cheesy, even for me. I'd recommend renting it, though.
ReplyDeleteIt is so good to hear that! I've seen every other version of this book and can't wait to see this one. So glad it gets to the point and doesn't add a bunch of extra! =)
