Fun in the Sun

I just want to point out: this outfit contains nothing that is black or gray. I think that calls for an award. Or perhaps a margarita, given the colorful nature of this getup:

Heat Wave

Now that it's not eleventy billion degrees, I can get back to wearing cuter stuff. It's hard to look good when your hair is matted to your face and you're sweating through your shorts, so thank god that's over for now.

Per the norm, all of this stuff is under $100. Polyvore was being totally wonkus last night, so I'll have to give you the breakdown the old fashioned way: the lovely blue dress is $85, the coral wedges are $40,  the tote is $9.90, the rings are $18, and the straw hat is $13. I'm enjoying the prettiness of the dress and rings, paired with the more playful bag and hat. Also, I just realized this whole thing is a modified version of the primary colors. Would ya look at that.

Are you still loving the colorful trends this year? What's your favorite piece here? Do you want a margarita now that I brought it up?

  1. I never wear heals but I'm digging those wedges! I love the color trends this year, particularly neon! Although I'm not wearing alot of neon t shirts - just sporting neon pink toenail polish!

  2. I am very much a neutrals gal, but I do like an occasional piece with color mixed in. Fortunately, I have a small baby girl who can wear neon yellow and gray with a hot pink flower, and she looks adorable. :)

  7. I love this look. Is this what you will be wearing next weekend for our fun in the sun meetup? And by "fun in the sun" I of course mean "bloggers at a bar." So excited!

  8. Yes, and make mine strawberry. ;) And you know I love color. This outfit is super cute, but I'd have to wear flats of course.

Also, I never used to wear hats, but my boyfriend and I were outside in the sun the other day discussing the fact that a big floppy hat would've been a lifesaver at precisely that moment. I think I should fully embrace the old lady that I am, buy a floppy hat, giant sunglasses, a maxi skirt, and a straw handbag and let that be my uniform from now on. That would mean I go from dressing like a 4-year-old (me now) to an 84-year-old, and skip all the "age-appropriate" styles in between that don't suit me anyway. Whaddya think?

  10. I love the hats and shoes. Man. It's hard for me to wear colors! I love them, but I always resort to plain old neutrals. My last roommate would congratulate me every time I wore something bright, haha.
