Somebody needs an intervention.

Hello, my name is Paige and I'm addicted to tote bags. My problem started last year when I went back to school and suddenly had 900 markers and pencils to drag around everyday. (I should note that I love my pencils and would never say a bad word about them. They're just... numerous.) Totes are like purses but better because they hold your Kindle and your sketchbook without making you look like a hoarder. They're practical for all sorts of people, not just students--like parents of small children, or those who always get cold in movie theaters and need to carry an extra sweater.

Heck, you can use a tote for just about anything. Some other helpful hints:

>> Keep supplies handy for the zombie apocalypse.
>> Hide that new stain on your shirt from lunch.
>> Swing it like a weapon.
>> Put your dog in it.

See how useful they are?! And why I can't stop myself from drooling over every one I see? I even used them in both of my outfit ideas last week. Forget purses. Totes in da house!

Speaking of houses, if I had room in mine for six more bags, these are the ones I'd buy:

Addicted to Tote Bags

1. I already have an olive tote with neon green on it, but who says a girl can't have two? ($40)
2. Normally polka dots aren't my thing, but these are adorable. ($33)
3. Camel is my favorite shade of leather, and it looks so summery with these green stripes. ($39.95)
4. This nautical tote might technically be a messenger bag with that long strap, but I like it for practical reasons: if it's windy, I need both arms to wrangle my portfolio. ($23)
5. I like big books and I cannot lie! This could be my official library bag. Holler. ($15)
6. And this ombre blue just makes me think of the ocean. ($20)

What about you? Are you on the tote bag train with me? I'm also a little too interested in scarves. What's your siren song?

  1. I'm obsessed with scarves. They are the cheapest accessory that will totally make an outfit! I had about 40, and then I opened an etsy shop selling them so now I am in trouble. Tote bags are pretty awesome too though. I love carrying around 20 pounds of random stuff so I'm prepared for anything. And then if you happen to go shopping you don't have to use a plastic bag :)

  2. I love the green stripe bag! Gives me an idea....

I do love tote bags, though. I have a ton and we do use them a lot for the kids' things when we go visiting, and we have a huge one for the library (surprise!). I would love to see a dog in a tote bag, though. Who would do such a thing?? :D

  3. Love the teal ombre bag and the polka dots! I always carry a tote when we travel so I can bring lots of things to do in the car or on the plane :)

  4. Totes are great! So much better than plastic bags... LOL!
I used to have a shoe thing -- now I pretty much wear one pair plus numerous sandals... I think I'll cry when they wear out!!

  6. I totally understand. With two small kids and a desire to pack a notebook, my favorite pen and pencil everywhere I have to drag my large bags. I try smaller ones and they last for about a day and then I feel nutty without my notebook and other things.

  7. You are my child!! I try to downsize the number of things I carry, but it's not easy! A large purse/tote bag is a necessity. :)

  8. I like backpacks and I always have. For years, I didn't carry a purse. I used a small backpack, instead! It just doesn't quite look the same when you're getting dressed up to go out. I have to constantly battle myself to keep from carrying around loads of junk I probably wont' need but feel like I need it 'just in case.'

  9. nice choices! These are all reasonably priced too! I've been working on some ideas for totebags. Leather straps are crazy expensive so I've been thinking of making my own.

  10. Haha, same here. Talking about bags... I am imposing my minimalism on that part of my life because I really don't need so many! But I am still crazy about them :)

  12. I just cracked up at "I like big books and I cannot lie." But I think if you have room for just one more, than you need that Ombre one. Any more than that and I'm submitting you to A&E Hoarders: Buried Alive.

  13. I love the ombre one and the one with the neon details. Are you going to treat yourself to a new bag?

  14. I love the ombre one! I think I need to switch to totes so that I don't get made fun of by bowling alley workers for the size of my purse. True story. This did happen once. Also, I am obsessed with scarves. I searched the internet for an hours for scarves this weekend when I REALLY needed to be making five million cards.

  15. I love the green and white striped one. Nice leather, too! Can't think right off hand what I am always buying. Maybe coffee mugs - great to pick up in vacationing towns and museums! {:-D

  16. I'm addicted to tote bags, too. I even hang one on a hook in my paper crafting studio to store an oversized paper cutter. The tote bag I like best from your photos is the aqua-and-white stripe/brown bag.

  18. I was a tote fanatic for a while - but then they got too heavy and my new muse is stylish backpacks :-) or an accross the shoulder messenger - I guess I like my hands free... to carry additional tote bags... I'm digging the first bag you picked out - love the colored leather straps!

  20. I love purses, totes, clutches, and bags of all kinds, I guess I am an addict too. I really love that turquoise tote, what a great color. I say you get at least 3 of those bags, there is always room for three :)
