Let's step back in time. About six months ago, my friend Meg emailed me about her guest room. She and her husband had done a lot of work in other parts of their house, but the salmon walls and mishmash of furniture was... Well, it was like this:
As Tim Gunn would say, it was a lot of look. Instead she wanted a normal furniture arrangement and a color scheme that would go with the existing bedding, so I put together a design board and suggested some DIY projects they could do in the space to make it feel more relaxing and less like the inside of an ear. I included products and a budget breakdown, too. Here's a reminder of what that step looked like:
Is it all coming back to you now? (Even if it's not, you'll still be blown away.) I'm bringing this up again because Meg and her husband have finished the room and it's GORGEOUS. Behold!
It's so bright and fresh! I would want to sleep there. Hubsey thinks it looks like the inside of a cloud, and I'm inclined to agree. It's just happy in there.
Obviously the biggest changes were painting the walls and adding the beadboard to the ceiling (for which they deserve a DIY medal, by the way), but they also painted their existing furniture, added window treatments, and got rid of the twin bed.
What's most impressive is how they used so much of what they already owned. That brown wicker dresser above? It's the same orange-y one from the first picture. (Spray paint!) If you want more information on their steps and a budget breakdown, head over to Meg's post. It all turned out wonderfully and I'm so glad I could help them get the ball rolling.
Have a room in your house that needs a design overhaul? Shoot an email to paige [dot] ronchetti [at] gmail.com and we can chat about it. I'd love to help.
So what do you think? Crazy good, right? Let's play What's Your Favorite Part? I think I have to go with the ceiling/wall-color combination. Although that dresser turned out really well, too...
Very pretty!
