The Most Accurate Personality Test Ever

Whoa, something totally different this Friday! I saw this prompt over on Jenni's blog (as part of Blogtember) and thought it sounded amazing. It's supposed to be Monday's post, but I'm doing it a day early because Monday is our chili party, and it would be blasphemy to delay chili.

--------------------

Have you ever taken a personality test? I've done quite a few in my life, some at work and some on the internet, and I think they're fascinating. I even dig those little quizzes on HGTV about your design style. Maybe I just like psychoanalyzing myself. Either way, when Jenni linked to this personality test and asked everyone to write about their results, I was all over it. If you've taken the Myers-Briggs test, this one is similar. Maybe it IS the same? I can't remember.

Anyway, I'm INFJ: Introverted Intuitive Feeling Judging.

I know those just sound like random words, but trust me, this thing was freaky accurate. There are some explanations of the results if you click through "self-awareness and personal growth" at the bottom, so I'll copy and paste some of them here and then give you the lowdown.

"INFJs are deeply concerned about their relations with individuals as well as the state of humanity at large."

True and true. If somebody is cranky I tend to assume they're mad at me until I hear otherwise. Which is ridiculous. And don't get me started on how many petitions I sign or documentaries I watch. It's a lot.

"Strongly humanitarian in outlook, INFJs tend to be idealists, and because of their preference for closure and completion, they are generally 'doers' as well as dreamers. This rare combination of vision and practicality often results in INFJs taking on a disproportionate amount of responsibility."

Hello, I'm Paige and I do 900 things at once.

"They are sometimes mistaken for extroverts because they appear so outgoing and are so genuinely interested in people -- a product of the Feeling function they most readily show to the world. On the contrary, INFJs are true introverts, who can only be emotionally intimate and fulfilled with a chosen few from among their long-term friends, family, or obvious 'soul mates.'"

On. The. Money. Nobody ever believes that I'm an introvert. I will admit that I have some weirdly extroverted qualities, like not being afraid of public speaking and having a loud voice, but dude. Meeting new people is so awkward. And exhausting. Being around too many folks in general, even if I know them, can wear me out. I've always needed time to myself to regroup, and it wasn't until a few years ago when I took the Myers-Briggs that I realized why.

I am the unexpected introvert. I like people in general, but I'm picky about making true friends. I'm not shy, but I prefer to spend a lot of time alone. I will totally go with you to that party and whoop it up, but don't make me stay for seven hours.

This is why I love working from home so much and why I was never that happy at other jobs. I'm in my element when I'm by myself.

Are you going to take the test? I hope you do, and I hope you write about the results because now I'm REALLY curious to know what all of you get. Even if you don't plan to dedicate a whole post to it, feel free to drop a note in the comments with your category. (Hubsey took it, too, and is ENTJ. That E is for extrovert!)

  1. ISFJ : Introvert(56%) Sensing(88%) Feeling(62%) Judging(56%)

I need to read more about it, but I was taking the test thinking that everything that I was answering, my husband would answer the opposite. I want him to take it later so we can compare.

This was fun! I'm definitely going to learn more about myself and I think I'll post about it next week. :)

  2. Hahahah, reading through this, you and I sound similar. I laughed out loud (and almost lost my latte) at "Hello, I'm Paige and I do 900 things at once." You do, girl! And I totally am the same way!

Gonna go take the test and see what my results are! Thanks for linking it up :)

  3. Whenever I've taken one of these in the past, I've gotten INFJ. But this time I got INTJ. Both have some applicable points for me, so I dunno?

I'm with you on the working from home being awesome.

  5. Do you think we're all blogging because we're Introverts? Hmmmmm . . . .

  6. I´m INTJ, I love my solitary sunday walks :-)

  7. I am ISFJ too!!! Introvert(89%) Sensing(12%) Feeling(12%) Judging(11%).
Thanks for this wonderful post Paige....I did a lot of personality tests during my PhD but on others! We did a few in college but not this one, so it just took me a few seconds to go to the test to try it! Maybe I'll do a post about it too :)
...it was fun I'll ask my hubby to do it too when he comes!

  8. I took the Meyers Briggs 2 or 3 times in school at different times. If I remember correctly, I'm INFJ, but that probably won't surprise you.
Also, I read something about it being the most rare personality type on the test...something like only 3% of the population, but I don't really believe that because I know a lot of INFJs both in real life and online. Maybe we "rare few" just find each other? Or maybe it's all hogwash. :)

  10. I am an INFJ as well and you described me to a T in your post. Everyone thinks I am always super duper confident when I am out or among groups but inside I am usually worrying about what I will say next or whether they are only talking to me because they know no one else there. My favourite phrase when invited out, "I will show my face for a while"

As for saving humanity, I have been told that I am a sucker for a lost cause!!

  11. I believe I was INFJ when I took this test years ago, but today it's saying INFP. 67% Introvert here. Totally love working from home, and spending solitary time relaxing, walking, etc...

  12. I've taken the Myers-Briggs 3 times, and every time I come out INFJ!!!!! I can TOTALLY relate to everything you said!

  13. Like LeAnn, I've taken the test multiple times and always come out with the exact same INFJ result. All of those descriptions that you posted fit me so well.

  14. I took the original Myers-Briggs years ago and I'm INFJ too!! I took this one again, I'm still INFJ :)

  17. I'm INFJ as well and people always say, "Oh no, but you're outgoing!" Ahhh... A few weeks ago, I came across this article and I really loved it: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/08/20/introverts-signs-am-i-introverted_n_3721431.html

  18. INTJ: Introvert(11%) iNtuitive(88%) Thinking(25%) Judging(44%). I'm glad it gives the percentages—as I was taking the test I felt like I was on the border between introvert and extrovert, and it picked up on that.

  19. I fell in the INTJ category. My high school class mates would never believe I'm an introvert now...I was voted most outgoing in my class!
But I'm like you. I like to get out now and then, but I need that alone time to regroup. And I like people in general, but I'm picky about true friendships.

  20. I have not done that in a long time, that was very interesting. I was a ISFJ. I remember taking that test when I was younger and I remember being an extrovert and not a introvert. I guess I have enjoyed working at home alone for the last 15 years. Thanks for sharing!
