Anyway, after I pinned 857 new color palettes, I realized I could actually do something with them: make inspiration boards! Ding, ding, ding!
So here's the first color combination I chose. Quite the step outside my hooray-for-neutrals comfort zone, isn't it?
The picture itself is really cute, and the apples were too timely to leave until later. I had a lot of fun doing this exercise, so I think I'll keep them coming.
As I was working I started to wonder if the red and green might veer into Christmas territory, but I don't think this does. There were a lot of dark neutrals in the picture, and choosing such a dramatic sofa keeps that true for the room. It's the anchor. I pulled in some other dark colors with the lighting, but kept the wood pieces light to play off of the orangey-yellow in the apples. The reds and greens were the trickiest part, but by keeping one muted (green) and one vibrant (red), they don't overwhelm. It's a happy little space.
Where do you get color inspiration? Should I make this a regular thing? Any color combination requests?
