Anywho, I thought I'd do something with it. This from Pinterest, specifically.
You'll need:
a mason jar (or other glass receptacle)
interesting paper of your choosing
Mod Podge
a paintbrush
Cut up (or in the case of my ancient piano music, gently tear) the paper. Put a layer of Mod Podge on the glass, arrange a piece of paper how you want it, and put another coat of Mod on top. Repeat until the glass is covered. For mine, I layered several pieces of paper to make it more like a collage.
Let it dry for a few hours. Grab a votive candle and realize that perhaps you didn't place your paper very well:
Whoops. The sheet music was thicker than I realized. And those bare spots at the top that looked pretty cool in natural light looked REALLY stupid with a candle.
Good thing I bought a back-up jar at GoodWill when I was there getting candelabras. Let's try this again:
Kind of creepy for Halloween, no? |
There we go! As Borat would say, great success.
Have you tried out any of your pins lately? How'd it go?
That came out great! Of course, I would have done the same thing and had to have done it twice. I would have been ripping at the first jar though because I wouldn't have thought ahead. I hope you'll come by and link up today!
ReplyDeleteThat's beautiful! Good thing you had a backup!

I tried the melted crayon art in the sun from Pinterest. The first one using the sun was just okay the second one using a blowdryer was better. The third one I tried to do by running the crayons through a hot glue gun and it was a dismal failure, plus I got melted purple wax all over the white kitchen floor. Epic FAIL!!! I have discovered that really the only way to get that off is with the Magic Eraser (or a knife). I think I'll stick to Pinterest food ideas for a while :) ~ Suzi
ReplyDeleteLooks great! Love that you sared the mistake... makes me not feel so bad about redoing projects 10 times lol!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea and project. I recently bought a mason jar to store my Wilton tips in but I realized I didn't like the way they looked in there and it was not very practical because you had to dump the whole jar just to see what you had. A candle holder is a great idea to use that jar for!
ReplyDeletethis is so fun! on halloween we put tea lights in these jars and hand them in our tree!
ReplyDelete[oomph.]
LOL! Suzi, that's awesome. Bummer about the floor, but hilarious to picture.
ReplyDeleteWow that's very cool :)

I like this take on a halloween votive--it would be great year round especially with the current craze of everything musical.
