It's my printer/scanner/copier--and also a fax machine, but I doubt I'll ever use it for that. Instead, I used it to finally take a stab at my calendar for 2012.
I decided to branch out a little and try a perpetual calendar. In theory, I could use the same template again next year because I don't have to worry about the days of the week--numbers only. This design is good for keeping track of birthdays and other major events (which is what this one is for), but maybe not everyday stuff since you don't have the days to double-check.
As you can see, I stopped at March. Neither of us has used this kind of calendar before, so I'm seeing how it goes before I bust out all 12 months. No need to jump the gun and have to re-do it in three weeks because I get freaked out by seeing less information.
If you slacked like me and still don't have a calendar, it's super easy to make your own version. All I did was print the numbers onto kraft paper, add some stickers (from the dollar spot at Target), and tie them together with really thin twine.
Did you make your own calendar this year? Or get a new printer? I didn't realize this one would be so huge! It takes up 75% of my shelf...
I love your calendar! You've inspired me! I've probably missed my chance this year, but maybe I should think about calendars to add to the shop next year.
ReplyDeleteI so totally want a new printer- a lovely laser one that costs way too much for what I would ever use it for. I love your calendar, though! I may have to try something like that.
ReplyDeleteI've never made my own calendar. What a great idea. Yours is cute.

DARLING calendar... I got a new printer this year, loved it AT FIRST. Now it has decided to be finicky and that makes me so very SAD.

Your calendar is so cute and creative! Sadly, I only use the calendar on my iPhone and in gmail these days. Maybe I'll be inspired by yours to make a real one though :). Oh, and I hear you on the big printer thing. I have a Canon art printer and it takes up SO much room.
ReplyDeleteLove your DIY calendar. My printer doesn't have a fax, but it does copy and scan. I use the copier function WAY more than I ever would have imagined. Saves me many runs to Kinkos.
ReplyDeleteCute calender! I've never tried to make my own, maybe next year!
ReplyDeleteMy printer/scanner is also huge - so big we don't have anywhere for it to go so it lives behind the lounge on the floor lol
That calendar is adorable!
ReplyDeleteI definitely need a new printer...I could in theory just replace the part (printhead) that is borked, but for the cost of the part I could get a brand new one... Really want wifi-enabled.
I need a new printer also, but I keep waiting because I had dropping that much cash on stuff like printers. How do you like this one?
ReplyDeleteI really love this idea :)

Mary, I've only used it to print the calendar, but so far I like it! It was pretty cheap, too. Around $110 from Amazon.
ReplyDeleteI HOPE to get a new printer this year. I got mine on Boxing Day last year..wasn't worth the $100 sale price. =( I am printer-jealous of you right now haha. What brand did you buy?
ReplyDeleteAnd homemade calendar? I have some ideas but haven't put anything in motion. I like what you're trying out this year!
Natalie, it's a Canon Pixma MX420 Wireless All-In-One printer. It's my first time having a wireless one and I love it. So much easier to find a spot for it.
DeleteWow, I love your idea and it looks really great! :)
ReplyDeleteWe need a new printer. This calendar turned out very cute. Thanks so much for linking to my 12 month challenge.
ReplyDeleteBig ole printer printin' out big ole ideas! This is an awesome way to track birthdays and such. I have one that I use every year for just birthdays. But this is a fun thing too and you'd get to play with different papers and designs each year/month too. Thanks for the inspiration. I found this on Fabric Fascinations 12 month challenge.

In my case, I needed the printer more than a calendar. I don’t even buy the latter as I am more used to looking at the dates through my phones and laptop. The printer, on the other hand, is where I depend on to get a hard copy of my bills, tax returns, tickets and vouchers. Stasia @ ALBImage.com
