A Day of Love

Everyone, this is my sewing machine.

Normally, we don't get along. It likes to make elaborate thread knots and WHRRRRR noises at me when all I'm trying to do is sew up a hem. It's been a little rude.

But that was before. Before I finally remembered to ask my mother-in-law for help when she was here. And you know what? It took her about 3 seconds to find the problem. My many hours of yelling and threatening disembowelment were a waste, because apparently that's not how you fix "bobbin tension problems."

Bobbin tension?! I didn't even know that was a THING. I thought you just stuck it in there and poof! It would know what to do.

Clearly, I've been giving machines too much credit.

So, yes, there are all sorts of thread tensions that need to be correct for actual sewing to happen. Now I know.

As soon as I got it working, I whipped up a little something I promised Hubsey about six months ago. He's been hanging onto the t-shirt he wore on our first date, even though it's falling apart and sporting some impressive stains. He wanted me to make it into something he could keep, so I did:

I'm not the only one who thinks the picture is funny, right?

Awwww. Even though I didn't intend to get him anything for Valentine's Day, I accidentally did anyway.

As for the sewing machine, I wouldn't say we're best friends, but we've buried the hatchet. At least for now. I do have to put more thread on the bobbin before I use it again, so we'll see how that goes...
