BUT THEN:
A week ago Saturday I reached my breaking point and said, dammit, today we buy chairs! We hit up a store we hadn't heard of before (for my locals, it's Dania in Lombard) all because of a flier in the paper. Old fashioned marketing, but it worked! The whole store had a lot of classic, simple pieces, so we'll definitely be back. I actually think the name is a play on Danish style, because it really felt Scandinavian up in there. In a good way.
But let's meet the chairs! Here's a view from the front and a close up of the fabric, which will be super for hiding dirt. The color is called Sage:
They're a little less sha-zam! than we were originally going for, but in the end I think that was a good move because they let the table be the star. And really, with something that big, it kind of needs to have the spotlight.
In other dining room news, that console we just bought for the basement won't be going down there anytime soon. We think it'll be our new bar instead:
One more look at the chairs!
Okay, I'm done. For now.
How was your weekend?
LOVE! You have such a perfect dining set for entertaining and even more importantly hosting Thanksgiving :)
ReplyDeleteI would kill for a dedicated dining room space, especially one that could fit an actual table, but until then I'll just live vicariously through you :)
The chairs look awesome and I LOVE the console as a little bar. Super cute and great for overflow stuff during dinners!

They're perfect! They look really comfortable :) Your dining room is really coming together!
ReplyDeleteThey look great! I totally know what you mean about the search for furniture that already matches what you have! we have a full couch and a recliner, and now that we're in a new house we can finally fit a love seat in the mix... but now we have to find one that matches our already existing furniture! What a nightmare. The chairs look really great though! And comfortable!
ReplyDeleteI've heard good things about Dania...good quality and decently priced. There are a few around time and I'll probably have to hit that up when we move. I keep forgetting how expensive furniture is and how were about tripling our square footage in our new house and needs lots of stuff to fill it. But you know I'll be hitting up IKEA as well!
ReplyDeleteThey look great...and comfy!
ReplyDeleteThe color works well with the table and I agree that they'll hide spots well :)
the chairs are fab....love the tweedy texture and the tufted button! nice job.
ReplyDeletei'm thinking some sort of area rug underneath it all to set that gorgeous table off! Pow!
bar console....perfect.
I LOVE THEM!! They are so perfect! They look just like your taste, but would go with any kind of table, or if you need to use them for extra seating, they could go in just about any room. Great pick!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the fabric on the chairs, neutral but not bland!
ReplyDeleteThe console fits in that spot perfectly. TFS
Oh, the look AAAAH-MAZING with your magnificent table! Love it.
ReplyDeleteNice! This is always what happens though...you have your sights on some really unaffordable wow option but the reality is in a less spectacular compromise. I think this is a pretty great compromise though- the shape of those chairs is lovely;)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great score! They are beautiful and look great with your table. You're ready to have a dinner party now!
ReplyDeleteI love them!!! They look great.

I would wear that upholstery.
ReplyDeleteAnd how cool is it that you heard about the store through a flyer!? Glorious remnants of a world without the internet!
It's coming along nicely!! Can't wait to see it in person.
ReplyDeleteI love those chairs and Daina is a great store! Your new chairs look fantastic with your table.

Those chairs are great! Love the shape and the upholstery. We still need chairs and a table. We've had to have repairs done on the house, and that is eating into my furniture budget :(
ReplyDeleteBut hopefully we'll be able to get everything taken care of soon so I can focus on the stuff that really matters, aka the decorating.
