If you saw my post on Friday, then you know that I'm closing down one of my Etsy shops to focus on full-time school. Which, by the way, has been liberating so far--I feel like the guy at the end of The Shawshank Redemption. But that's not all I've been up to! The weather has been cooperating more than usual so I've been out and about:
>> We went to a flea market over the weekend (it was mostly a bust, only got these two things), only to discover there was also a classic car show going on. You don't see too many orange Bel-Airs, so I had to document. You know, for history.
>> There were also rooftop drinks with a friend on Friday night, and it made me wish we had lived in the city for a while. I love our house, and too bad there's not a way to plop it on top of some apartments so we can have those views, too.
>> The upstairs bathroom is getting de-grayed! That's just the primer, the walls are going to be a pretty light blue. Next summer we'll gut the almond-colored tub and too-short vanity, but for now this is Phase I.
>> Sometimes even Hubsey doesn't feel like making real food, so that's when we have snack dinner. A note about those pickles: they're marinated with habanero peppers and you should go buy some right now. We got them at the Crate & Barrel outlet but I bet they sell them on the website, too.
>> I've been clocking a lot of time at the arboretum. My original goal was to go once a week, but I've decided to make it twice. I actually discovered that it's really close to campus, so after sitting through a four-hour CAD lecture I can give my poor tired eyeballs a rest.
>> Over the holiday weekend, we went to see my sister sing at a bar. Not only was the music great and the food tasty, but they had giant Jenga sets made out of cut 2x4s. It was actually not as dangerous as it sounds, and now we want to make a set for our yard.

Did you have a good weekend? Do anything cool? Anybody else a fan of snack dinner?
Looks like an awesome weekend! I especially love that orange car. I am excited to see how the bathroom project comes along as well.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you've been having tons of fun. I like that car! I am a big fan of snack food. After working from 8.30 to 17.30, I often don't feel like spending much time in the kitchen. Mostly, cheese is involved.
ReplyDeleteSnack dinners are my favorite because neither of us really likes cooking. Every once in a while I'll go on a health kick and want to eat all natural, blah blah blah, and so I'll be cooking constantly for a few months. And then I'll be like, what am I doing? I hate cooking! And then it's take out and snack dinner time for the next few months. :)
ReplyDeleteLove all these photos.
The rooftop shot is so sweet! What a fantastic view. Love the snack dinner. It is so perfect for hot summer nights when no one feels like cooking.
ReplyDeleteLovely weekend. But, I have to disagree with you, I would never want to live in the city with views of cement, asphalt, buildings and cars. I love nature and the outdoors! Love a house with a yard!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun! I am missing my phone so badly - it's so much more convenient for taking fun photos than my full camera.
ReplyDeleteI love that view!!! I'm surprised you didn't live in the city. I already know which neighborhood I'd live in if we ever decide to move back.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun weekend! Very cool car -- and I like your idea of a snack dinner -- looks healthy, too. I prefer the arboretum to the rooftop, but then I'm a farm kid. Love the great outdoors.
ReplyDeleteWe have a classic car show every year! The orange car looks great :)
ReplyDeleteOh man, Yard Jenga sounds like so much fun! So glad you've been finding time to clear your mind with all this busy-ness! :)
ReplyDeleteI bet my husband would love those pickles! must check out...
ReplyDeletegiant Jenga sounds really cool! another thing to check out!
There is a classic car show nearby every Friday in the summer. I need to take make camera for a visit.
