Let's play a game I like to call Should I Keep These Boots?
I got them over the weekend at Nordstrom's anniversary sale. They're Steve Madden, and at $109 they're more than I normally shell out for a pair of shoes, but the quality (and comfort!) is worth the price. I plan to wear them for several Chicago winters, so they need to hold up.
My problem is that I tried on a different color in the store (while wearing shorts, so I bet that was attractive), and had this pair shipped to Casa Ronchetti.
Are they too casual to wear at work? My office is pretty lax, but these might be pushing it. They're also a tad on the lumberjack-y side, and now that I'm seeing them with jeans... Or am I being paranoid? Is woodsy footwear just something I need to embrace? Do you wear Paul Bunyan boots to work with no problems?
Help. Advice. Please.
Well...I've worn my cowboy boots with a dress numerous times to work (I work as a legal assistant)...I think it's just a matter of finding the right outfit to wear them with for work. Do any of your normal work outfits "go" with the boots?
ReplyDeleteI guess I picture you as more of an Ugg style girl. I bet you can find an even cuter pair for even less :)
ReplyDeleteUggs? That's so funny! I've never even tried a pair on. :-)
ReplyDeleteJenna, that's good to hear. A lot of my work outfits involve jeans, so I suppose they already go? I'm a big believer in dressing things up with accessories...
ReplyDeleteROCK THOSE PAIGE!!! They are fab for winter in Chicago! Dress em up with a cutie blouse or chunky knit! Super.cute. xox!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE those boots... love, love, love! Oh, and try on some Uggs, they are like wearing houseshoes. I think they are SO ugly, but OH SO COMFY.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely good for Chicago winters! If you're worried that they aren't work appropriate, you could keep them for the practicality and then slip some other shoes to change into once you're at work. I wear boots to work, but they're more cowboy-like (a pair of Frye's). I think it's all about what you wear with them!
ReplyDeleteThey look good with jeans but are you allowed to wear jeans to work? Perhaps casual Fridays? I definitely thinking wearing them to work and switching to another shoe is a good idea for the tundra winters of Chicago.
ReplyDeleteI have to say my first reaction was lumberjack boots or army boots. I think they're cute for casual, but not really office appropriate. Plus with all the lacing they'd be cumbersome to put on/take off at work while switching shoes.
ReplyDeleteI'm allowed to wear jeans everyday, so that would make it a little easier if I keep them. They're not "real" snowboots, though, just regular shoes for frequent wear.
ReplyDeleteLori, they actually zip up the back, so I wouldn't have to unlace tham at all!
If you're allowed to wear jeans everyday then definitely go for it. Skirt or dress might be heading towards Grunge territory and I don't know if you wanna do that. :)
ReplyDeleteI really like them. I say keep them!
ReplyDeleteI can't say if they're too casual for your office but KEEP THEM! They are adorable.
ReplyDeleteI love these! You could dress them up with darker skinnys & lots of layers on top for work. Super cute!
ReplyDeleteThose are awesome! I have an almost identical pair, down to the stitching!
ReplyDeleteI've always owned more boots than flats at any given time (I'm thrilled about the return of the combat boot trend —soon to go away, I'm sure.)
Those may be a bit too strict for office when paired with jeans, though. Maybe the look suggested by Liz, or something light and girly...
IMHO - they are too casual for work, but I like them for casual wear! Reminds me a little of the combat boots from my 90's high school days (remember Nirvana and flannel? :)
ReplyDeleteI can't really give an opinion on style or work acceptable, all I can say is they are too darn cute and they look great on you!
ReplyDeletegail
Paige! As Weird Amiga and Charity said, they are very combat boot-y, or even little house on the prairie-ish, if that's the look you're going for. I personally think they're ever so unattractive, but that's just me. Maybe it's my age....I also work in the legal field and have never seen anyone wear boots like that to work. Suzi
ReplyDeletep.s. I still love love love your pirate boots! Uggs may be more snow boot friendly for you.
