Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter

I've always thought Abe Lincoln was pretty cool. (Maybe it's an Illinois thing, but I feel like everybody I know has a soft spot for our 16th President.) Lately the volume has been turned up even more because I started reading one of the best books I've gotten in a while: Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter.

It's essentially like any other biography... except there are vampires! And not to spoil the plot, but he hunts them. It's written by the author of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, which I have also read, and this one is even better. The monsters are a little more seamlessly woven into the story this time.

But enough of the book review! I have cool stuff to share:

Starting top left, the Abe Lincoln bowl is $32, the creepy Dracula cufflinks are $25, the colony of bats necklace is $18, the bird skull ring (molded from a real skull!) is $35, and the log cabin print is $25.

Has anybody else read Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter? Or any of the other classics-meet-monsters books? What do you think of them?

  3. I always see the pride & prejudice and zombies book and wonder if I'd enjoy it. Did it have a little bit of the YA feel to it? I think I could use a fun book to add to my reading list :)

  6. That Abe bowl is pretty cool. And I will have to check out the book. I have always been skeptical of that book series...I am more of a classical traditionalist...but if Paige says they are awesome, well they are probably awesome! added to my 2012 reading list. Check.

  7. Kasey, it definitely reads like YA. It feels a bit like the Nicholas Flamel books, if you've read any of those.

  12. Since I'm from the great state of IL too that is pretty freaking awesome. When you were in 8th grade did you make the trip to Springfield too? We did and I got to walk around in the teeny tiny house he lived in with his horrible wife.
