Oscar Night

The odds of this happening are pretty slim, but should I ever attend the Oscars (which are this Sunday--woo!) I've planned ahead and picked my outfit.

Oscar Night

Alexander McQueen evening gown, £2,339
Valentino bow pumps, $895
Giuseppe Zanotti clutch handbag, $1,740
Mawi gemstone drop earrings, $495
M·A·C nail lacquer, $16

It might look uber simple at first glance, but there are actually some nice details. I can't stop drooling over the dress and earrings especially. It's a shame nobody I know is hosting a black tie viewing party that includes paying for my outfit, because this would be ON.

That reminds me, the gray frock I impulse bought from Asos last week arrived yesterday. And it's WAY too big. I'm not sure what happened because I ordered based on their size chart and my measurements, but it's giant and flappy. Tragically, it's going back.

Anybody else excited for the Oscars? Any predictions? (I'm pulling for Gary Oldman, but I don't think it will happen.) Do you also ponder red carpet outfits when you need a break from your drafting homework? Ordered anything online recently that had to be sent back?

  1. Oh no! I'm so sad to hear the dress didn't fit. I've yet to order anything from ASOS, though I've been tempted, it's hard to when you've never ordered from a site to gauge their sizes. Are you going to exchange it?
I bought a handful of dresses from dorothyperkins.com and sadly only 2 of the 4 I bought REALLY fit. I can make the other ones work but I still love them all.

Speaking of outfits, your Oscar outfit is divine, those earrings are AMAZING. You'll definitely be the bell of the figuritive ball :p

    1. I thought about it, but now that I've seen it in person, I think it's a little fancy. Definitely something I could wear to a wedding, but none of my friends are getting hitched this summer!

  3. You'd look like the perfect celebrity in this outfit! My favorite part is seeing all the beautiful gowns!

  4. You'd be a hit on the Red Carpet! Love your choices! Even Joan Rivers would be hard pressed to criticize that stunning ensemble.

  5. Your Oscar outfit costs more than my car... Then again it looks better too, and given that you will use if for one night in February, it sounds like it may last longer too. So I suppose if you are ever invited (or nominated) this would be a good pick.

  7. Gorgeous picks! You know, it might be fun to host a formal even just because!

    1. Nope! I'm great at preparing for hypothetical situations. :-)

  9. I'm excited to see what everyone's wearing, but I doubt I'll actually watch the whole awards show. They're always too long and too boring for me. I sometimes flip back and forth, but usually I just read who won what online the next day! :)

  10. LOVE the dress, and your accessories are great. IF I were to go to the Oscars I'd wear this outfit and add a boa in the green of the earrings. :)
