It looks relatively simple in the end, but it's really a multi-step process. Here's a peek at my latest project, about halfway through:
What you're looking at is three pieces of tracing paper, all taped on top of each other--which is why it seems blurry. The bottom layer is my grid and walls, the middle is what I call "boxing out" my furniture, and on the top layer I've started the styling. After I rough out all of my pieces (I don't have many left) I'll put a piece of vellum on top and trace everything with my drafting pencils. Sound time consuming? It is. I'm curious to see how different (read: faster) this will be when I start learning CADD.
To jog your memory, this is what I did before:
Hopefully I'll have more finished pictures to show you in a couple of weeks. I suppose I could've snapped some from my other class, art history, but I think you know what a pile of textbooks and a cranky Paige looks like.
Are you in school? How's it going? Anybody else in a drawing class?
Wow...this doesn't look simple at all! It looks quite impressive and in depth actually! But it sounds like something you enjoy (better than art history anyway) lol :)
ReplyDeleteAww, thanks, Edi! It's really just a lot of measuring. :-)
DeleteArt history could be SO interesting, but we have too much info to get through in one semester so we're just zooming through. It's a bummer.
Genius!
ReplyDeleteI still can't see myself sitting all hours with ruler and pencil to draw that.
It's been a long time since my last day at school. I kinda miss being a student.
Looks great - I really like the 3D work - I find it so impressive.
ReplyDeleteWhen you get to CAD - my hubby is a pro - he's in the middle of drawing our house exterior :-) I'm sure he'd love to answer any questions or provide any tips
It doesn't look simple at all to me! You're doing great! I would be stressed and cranky if I had to do that. Lack of spatial skills here! :)
ReplyDeleteThis is pretty cool!
ReplyDeleteLooks so complicated! Looks like fun as well. Good for you!
ReplyDeleteThose look great. I wouldn't have thought they were multiple sheets on top of each other. Shows how much I know about drawing. I'm currently in school making my last attempt at finishing my master's in physics. I am actually working on my homework as I type this. I took Latin Art History in undergrad. It was really interesting but I still couldn't understand what they were looking at. Ohh.. well I'm a scientist.
ReplyDeleteMy eyes hurt looking at these lines. :(
ReplyDeleteLooks fun but definitely time consuming! I'm going back to school for graphic design and have jumped in full time and am taking 5 art classes. I'm also in a drawing class but we started with proportion and value and haven't tackled perspective yet. I've been so busy I've missed your school updates! I'll have to check in more often.
ReplyDeleteIt is cool to see the process. Your drawings are great, and I am sure the rest of the semester will be rewarding.

Your drawings look great! I'm sure that it is time consuming, but it seems like a fascinating process.
ReplyDeleteSo exciting!! I really wanted study something in the art/design field. Of course I chose the school without the right majors... Today I visited a fashion school in San Francisco because I've always loved the idea of their programs but it's a) super expensive, b) a long commute, and c) maybe not necessary for me right now. I don't know if I'd use the degree in fancy career kind of way! Anyway, this amazing. I can't sketch to save my life, haha
ReplyDeleteHa! That's a nice big tv you have there!
ReplyDeleteI love technical drawings.
Good luck, and the sharpest of pencils to you this semester! :)
I love this! It reminds me of my 8th grade drafting class, which I loved.
