Pinterest Picks

Thanks for all of your responses to my post the other day! My brain is churning with ideas now, and it's gotten me even more excited about working on the house--which I didn't think was possible. Too bad it's not 30 degrees warmer so I can get some painting done and re-stain my $10 table. Anyway, since I'm in that frame of mind, this round of Pinterest Picks is rather house-heavy. But I don't think you'll mind.

This bedroom is absolutely gorgeous. I keep getting drawn to light, bright spaces, which doesn't surprise me since I have ants in my pants to get our kitchen cabinets painted. The stripes and flowers work so well together, and that lamp is eerily similar to the ones we have on our nightstands. (It's fate! Time to re-do the bedroom!)

This is one amazing shade of purple. I actually said, "Oh my god!" out loud to myself when I saw it. That circle skirt would be fun for twirling around in, too.

Remember my make-things-with-old-yardsticks phase? I might be getting into paint stirrers next. Here's how to make a herringbone tabletop with them:

One of the many, many kinds of junk food I love is a good soft pretzel with cheese--especially if I'm drinking beer. I don't have any baking prowess, but my husband knows his way around the oven and I bet I could sell him on these:

Another white room! I want just a smidge more contrast in here, but I love how they took the subway tile all the way to the ceiling. And that rug. And the pendant. And the sink.

What fun stuff did you find online this week? Anybody else especially drawn to light rooms right now? Maybe it's because of the dreary winter light. Do you have any fun plans this weekend?

P.S. Wanna be Pinterest pals? You can find my boards right here. Feel free to leave your username in the comments!

  1. That kitchen is quite white. I think even a marble counter top would break it up. And those pretzels - yum!

I am finally finishing curtains I bought fabric for a year ago this weekend - and I'm going to do that closet door project to knock off the Patchwork West Elm dresser - we'll post pics soon! Can't wait.

    1. I know, I could never do a solid white counter like that. Not with the food splatters I get all over everything. :-)

Can't wait to see those pictures!

  2. I've found myself drawn to light rooms lately too! And can you ever go wrong with subway tile?

  3. LOVE that dress! And the color!
I'm more drawn to color right now because we have all white walls and I'm so tired of them. I'm ready for a pop of color :)

  5. Oh lovely picks! RIght now were're working on transforming our house from our old brown, tan, blue, and green palette to new slick & modern grey walls. I'm trying to get the living room in order with graphic black and white, using the old tan couch to incorporate tans in still, and light pops of bright color through art. Today's project is make new pillow covers and start on new curtains!!

  6. Ooo love the farmhouse sink with the pendant light! Swoon. Also loving the colors in the pattern on the pillow... would be gorgeous inspiration for an entire room!

  7. That kitchen would be really hard to live with. I love subway tile in general and also like white cabinets, but not with a white countertop, white sink, white everything. That is something that looks much better in photographs than it does in real life. I lived in apartments for many years that were all white and it gets old quick. Those pretzels look as good as I'm sure they taste. :)

    1. I hope one day to live with subway tiles! So much character.
Don't know what's worse: white kitchen, or stainless steel appliances... Stainless steel is such a nightmare to maintain!

    2. Yeah, it's too white how it is, but I like a lot of the components. If only they'd done a dark countertop, it'd be perfect.

Weird that you mention having trouble with stainless! We've only had that kind since we got married and we love them.
