I think the three day weekend for MLK day always throws me off more than most because it's so close to the holidays. It's like that extra day of laziness lulls me back into thinking I can sit around for another week eating chips and watching Netflix. (Which I suppose I could, technically, but I don't think I would be a very good boss if I did.)
Anyhoodle, yesterday I was doing the aforementioned Netflix watching and chip eating, and I got to thinking about storage. One of my favorite things to shop for is little boxes and baskets for wrangling clutter. I never seem to have enough, so I'm always on the prowl.
1. Yellow is popping up all over our business in the new house, which is fun. Less fun is the fact that this box is no longer available on Joss&Main, so it'll just have to be inspiration. Maybe I could try to make one somehow...
2. Crate&Barrel knows how to do a basket. This one is big enough to hold a blanket or two, $39.95.
3. These spire tins from Y Living would be snazzy in the kitchen, $33.
4. This set of three trunks is also from a Joss&Main event that's over (grrr!), but there's plenty of other industrial storage on the web that could take over instead.
5. IKEA is my store BFF for a reason. This rolling cart could work in a bathroom, office, playroom, or even a kitchen if you have a small nook, $50.
6. And here's another IKEA product: a large shopping bag that you could use for stashing craft supplies on the go, $1.99.
I'm so temped to go thrifting right now (or drive to the blue and yellow palace), but work beckons. What's your favorite kind of storage? Where do you like to get yours? Did you do anything fun over the long weekend? I cooked twice, if you can believe it, with real ingredients and everything. Maybe I should buy myself a basket to celebrate.
None of my storage is particularly cute, but at least I'm getting better at using it! I have a couple of wire shelves above my work desk and I keep my supplies organized in either clear plastic boxes or pretty cloth-covered boxes (when I can find ones I like on sale!).
ReplyDeleteLovely selections! I know what you mean! It's so hard to be motivated when we get another mini break so soon! But shopping always seems to do the trick;)
ReplyDeleteI have lots of bags in my craft room - nothing is ever 100% put away and I travel to craft a bit - like going to my sisters to take advantage of her HUGE kitchen table yesterday to finally start some curtains.
ReplyDeleteWe painted the master bedroom this weekend! I haven' painted since last winter and it felt so good to continue on my goal of repainitng the entire house.
I really like that C&B one, but I think it would completely awesome if the bottom third or so was painted a fun accent color.
ReplyDeleteOk.. very important question. "What were you watching on Netflix?" I'm really addicted to Netflix. I swear I have a problem. I was at a party on Sunday and concluded that recovery time from drinking and dancing in heels is a lot longer than it used to be. I like to buy storage bins at the dollar store or Target.
ReplyDeleteI'm a hoarder of boxes - hubby jokingly calls me the "box-lady" haha.
ReplyDeleteCan't beat the white cardboard ones from IKEA. They look good and they're a bargain!
I need that Ikea bag. NEED. I think it's high time to trek out to the burbs to meet you at Ikea!
ReplyDeleteI really like the rolling cart. So many possibilities.
ReplyDeleteI love baskets! I'm always on the lookout for them at garage and estate sales -- I can always find good uses for them!
ReplyDeleteI can always use more storage ideas! Love the rolling cart and that tote is awesome at $1.99!
ReplyDeleteI have loved that Ikea cart since I first saw it, but was a little disappointed in the price. It seems a little high for Big Blue. That doesn't mean I wouldn't buy it for my workroom if I had the space, because I totally would.
ReplyDeleteLove that rolling cart from Ikea! I might have to make a trip there soon. :)
ReplyDeleteI love that rolling rack from Ikea! I was in there the other day, but I was in and out... too many people!
ReplyDeleteIt would be hilarious if you kept all your lotions in a basket.
ReplyDeleteActually, I will try this on my guest room and see if they get the reference.
What a unique collection of storage ideas! I like storage ideas that don't look like storage.
