Most of you know that I don't really wear a lot of color. It's news when I wear yellow. Dark denim and gray is probably my favorite combination, followed closely by dark denim with black or brown. (Wild, I know.) I have been getting better, but I think 2013 might be my time to finally get on the color train for real thanks to Pantone choosing Emerald as the hue of the year. How can you say no to the best shade of green in the world? Here, she beckons:
If you're like me and don't rock many bright colors in general, this is a good way to proceed: Pick a versatile piece, like this blouse that can be dressed up or dressed down ($35), and pair it with something you wear a lot anyway, in my case dark skinny jeans ($46). I would keep the shoes ($40) and purse ($30) neutral so there isn't too much competing for attention, and maybe, maybe, if I'm feeling daring I would add a second pop of color with my earrings ($60) and bracelets ($25).
I haven't actually put that blouse in my cart yet, but it's about .03 seconds from happening. Have you bought anything emerald? Or anything else colorful, like neon or some bright jeans?

My very favorite dress is emerald green and so is my favorite top!l I am overjoyed that to is the color of the year (and my guy confessed to me about a week ago he loves it when I wear green). It's going to be a colorful year =)
ReplyDeleteAs much as I love green, denim and grey is the most often seen color combination in my wardrobe. It doesn't help my clothing variety that both my undergrad and graduate schools have grey as one of their colors!
Gray, black, white, occasionally brown....that's me! I am pretty boring, I must admit. I am trying to add some color in for this spring, though. I actually tried on the most beautiful jeweled-toned teal pants at J.Crew over the weekend but they were too small and didn't have the next size up. :( At least I tried!
ReplyDeleteI usually go for black, grey or blue, but this green blouse looks awesome. I might think about some pops of colour for spring. I like the clutch too, I've been thinking about getting one, but I see too many good ones to pick just one. I really like that this one goes with everything.
ReplyDeleteThat blouse is great! And like you said...perfect to dress up or down. And you could choose so many different accessories to change it up too.
ReplyDeleteI am usually so not a jewel tone person, but emerald has really grown on me. It's such a different type of shade than Pantone has chosen in the past too, which is kind of awesome.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great emerald green outfit! I don't wear a lot of green, bit I still love the color.
ReplyDeleteIn my world, colors don't compete for attention...they just hang out and are all friends together. :)
ReplyDeleteI do like this shade of green a lot. I was about to say I don't wear green often, but then I remembered I have 2 bright green sweaters and at least 2 green tops, several green-ish pieces of jewelry, so nevermind. Haha.
Really pretty green shirt with those jeans! I love the color green and I bet it would look wonderful on you!
ReplyDeletebeautiful blouse! i too don't do colors often - i need to branch out and experiment more!
ReplyDeleteLove that tunic! And I'm a huge fan of flats. Your choice of accessories really makes the outfit! What fun!
ReplyDeleteLovely picks . I can go faaaaaaaaaaaar for this top <3
