If you want to stay posted on the events as they happen, I recommend following this guy on Twitter. He's the social media editor for Reuters, and is incredibly well-informed.
In local news, flooding is still an issue in a lot of areas, and most of downtown Naperville is closed. Residents are being asked to avoid the area. All street closures can be seen right here.
I feel kind of silly going into Pinterest Picks, but it might be good to offer up a distraction if anybody wants one. Think of it as a hug for your brain.
This chair is adorable. It's a new take on the paint-dipped trend, and I actually like it more this way:
This is a lighthouse in upstate New York that's been turned into a bed and breakfast. You can see a tour of the interior by following that link, too. Maybe we should go there for our next vacation...
Leopard sandals! Who needs leopard sandals? Answer: everybody.
This is a wonderful coaster DIY. I might substitute smooth tiles for the tumbled marble they used, but that's a nitpick. I really like that none of them match:
And finally, not that either of us are scientists, but I love this cutting board. If you look closely, the top says "I use this cutting board periodically." Ha! Puns!

It feels strange to say this, given the crises scattered around the country, but I hope everybody has a good weekend. As good as you can, anyway. Hugs for everybody.
Crazy, crazy week. The news almost looks like it should be followed by "April Fools!" Let's hope that normalcy returns soon.
ReplyDeleteI love all your finds. The chair is really cool (What is with all the paint-dipped stuff? I saw a set of 3 wooden spoons with dipped handles for $29. $29!!! They're WOODEN. SPOONS.) and I love the sandals! I'm not big on animal print but I love those. If I were the type of person to say "lurve" I would.
Love the finds! I really like those sandals. Not huge into animal print but I'd rock those. I also like the cutting board. That would fit perfect in this household!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the distraction Paige! Loving that chair and the cutting board. I'm thinking that would be a great project for some afforadable ikea chairs! or i can look for some when we hit a flea market this sunday.
ReplyDeleteI was at work before the official shut down was put in place - so I'm in town staying at my office until they catch that kid. My office is very far away from the greatest activity today but in the lockdown area. I hope it's soon! I have Book of Mormon tickets for tonight!
I was wondering how close you are to Boston! My god. I hope everything gets settled quickly.
DeleteFriday night was such a relief - BOM was cancled but we just scooped up tickets to Wednesday before they head our of town this Sunday!
DeleteNo chair at the flea market - but a great window mirror for the mantel - I'll share soon!
Very crazy week indeed. I'm on the west coast and we happened to catch the late night news (10pm our time) and saw some of the police action last night, live. They didn't mention at the time that one of the guys had been killed though, but I am glad they found who did the Boston bombings, it's awful. And my heart goes out to those in Texas as well, so much sadness this week.
ReplyDeleteI have leopard flats and I LOVE them, wear them all the time. In fact, I bought them on sale last fall and they were so cheap I bought two pairs for when one pair wears out, lol...
Hoping next week is better than this, for sure. ♥
I love the expression 'a hug for the brain'. I guess everybody can use one sometimes.
ReplyDeleteApril is just a crazy month! It seems like so many bad things have happened in Aprils throughout the years.
ReplyDeleteThat chair is fantastic!
This week has just been down right CRAZY! My heart goes out to so many people this week!
ReplyDeleteLove that mint chair :)
It sounds like it's been bad all around and pretty much non-stop!
ReplyDeleteHoping it's the last of it.
I can't comprehend all the bad things happening and it's very overwhelming so the news is off here. It is nice to get away if even for a little bit so I enjoyed seeing your picks. That chair is great!
ReplyDeletePaige, terrible things happening. My heart goes out to the victims and their families.
ReplyDeleteThat cutting board would make a great gift for my hubby :)
take care,
Duni
I love that chair and also agree that the tiles would've been better smooth. Hoping the water situation in your basement is ok. I think that storm is headed our way tonight. Ugh.
ReplyDeleteIt has been a crazy week. Yesterday I spent the day trying to get water out of my studio. Thank goodness for plastic bins. You have some lovely finds, I would love to go to the lighthouse for vacation.

A wonderful diversion! Love the paint dipped chair and the periodic table cutting board---wish I knew a chemistry major grad. That would be the perfect gift!
ReplyDeleteIt's good to have a little distraction after a week like this. So many awesome picks. The paint dipped chair is adorable, and the cutting board cracked me up.
