It's Friiiiiday! It was another one of those weeks where I felt like I had too much going on at once, but I did cross one MAJOR thing off my list: the built-ins in the family room are white! They still need to cure before we put all of the stuff back onto them, but they are indeed painted. Here's a little sneak peek from Instagram last night.
Now, on with the Pinterest picks!
This is so smart: turning old book spines into a box to hide things in plain view on your shelves. This would be nice for a router, the cable box, maybe a pile of remotes...
Also on our DIY makeover list is the kitchen. We plan on painting the cabinets white like we just did for the built-ins, but we also need to figure out a solution for the weird, tumbled stone backsplash. Beadboard is a contender, and I like the green:
Hedgehog measuring cups! Look at the cute little nose!
I'm 98% sure that I've pinned these kale and quinoa patties before, and maybe blogged about them, too, but they look so delicious that I couldn't resist when I saw them again. Even Hubsey will skip his meat and potatoes for quinoa, which is like me skipping nachos:
And finally, my list of books to read gets longer everyday. I'm also going through a nonfiction kick, which is unusual for me (right now I'm in the middle of Lean In by Sheryl Sandburg). Anyway, this print is accurate:
So happy weekend! What are your plans? I'm working on a charity project for the design club at school today and tomorrow. We teamed up with an organization that's similar to Make-A-Wish and designs dream bedrooms for terminally ill kids. Our client is Emily, she's 10, and her leukemia is almost in remission. She's getting a happy room full of polka dots, and the family doesn't know this yet, but we're making over a music room she shares with her sister, too. I'm so excited! Be sure you come back on Monday to see the pictures.
Great Pinterest picks! Love your blog, new follower from the Etsy Blog Team :)

ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see Emily's room :)
I love the book spine project! Way cool. I need to try those quinoa patties. I always mean tot eat quinoa, but then I never seem to actually get around to doing it!
ReplyDeleteI love your living room built-ins; your kitchen cabinets are going to be awesome, and that bead board looks pretty! The book spines box is the neatest idea, and I'm the same with the non-fiction right now. Who knew non-fiction wasn't necessarily boring? LOL! I'm eating it up. Have a great weekend! It sounds like an amazing project to be working on. What a special thing to do!
ReplyDeleteOh my, those hedgies are so cute! I think I'd even like to cook if I were using them!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the book box idea -- I have some routers and such just crying for a place to neatly live! Looks like a ready-made crate for the box so it would be easy-peasy!
What an awesome charity project - my company does a "rooms to dream" makeover each year. It's a really special way to help others.
ReplyDeleteHedgehog measuring cups! My day is now complete. I look forward to hearing about how the charity project goes today.
