Hint: it's great.
The house definitely still feels festive. I pulled everything out before our trip and had an unintentional red/turquoise theme emerge (with blue and gold accents), so I just kind of rolled with it.
I don't always have tea stuff on the table. But when I do, I take a picture. |
Sorry about the blown out window behind the couch (oopsie), but I wanted to use this one because it's the most accurate shot of the impossible-to-photograph paint. It's leftover from the previous owners and I kind of dig it. Makes for a happy room.
And hey, I actually have TWO trees in the dining room. If you put them together it's almost like having a big one, but more awesome because I don't have to pick faux pine needles out of shag carpet. Win.
What are your decorations like this year? Anybody else trying a membership in the No Tree Club? Do you like to change up your theme each time, or do you stick to the same thing?
We don't have a tree either, but for an entirely different reason - our cats ;-)
ReplyDeleteOur home looks like yours in that I place a few festive decorations here and there. Works for us!
Great rug!!
Nice, I like the little touches. I'm ALL about Christmas Trees and it has to be real. This year we almost weren't going to decorate because Ryan is gone and I've been so busy but Ryan is actually driving up from NC so we can decorate the apartment this weekend so I'll get my festive home soon.
ReplyDeleteI hate to go "off topic" but I LOVE your built-in tv console!
ReplyDeleteAnyways, I just put my tree up on Wednesday, and it was the first year in 6 years that I've had one. Tom, my fiance, and I are on the opposite end of the spectrum-- after not having one for so long, we craved a Christmas tree! We even bought two mini-evergreens to plant in our front yard. We've also put up some cute snowmen made out of wool roving, and lots and lots of peppermint scented candles.
We are tree people. The tree is the best part for me! But we have lots and lots and lots of special ornaments that are fun to unwrap every year, and Gus gets so excited to put it up that he often gets ahead of me and unwraps things faster than I can put them up. We do some other knick-knack stuff too, but the tree is the main thing.
ReplyDeleteI love all your little touches. It definitely adds as Christmas feel to the house without going overboard.
I'm not feeling it either. It's funny... right before I sat down to catch up on some blog reading, I was thinking...where is it going to go? do I need to switch out the furniture? bulbs? sentimental ornaments? both? what did I do last year? yeah, that's how I roll, I shoot questions to myself without answering.
ReplyDeleteI think you made the perfect decision for YOU. I love the festive touches you've added Paige! I think that's better than what I do--only a tree and very little "festive" in the rest of the house.
gail
We moved temporarily into the tiniest house imaginable, so there is no room to put up a tree. I miss it because it helps bring out the Christmas spirit and makes the house festive, but you're right, it is a hassle! I had to laugh when I read, "I don't always have tea stuff on the table. But when I do, I take a picture." It's something I would totally say and do!
ReplyDeleteI put up your old tree! It didn't lose as many needles this year as it did last year. I don't like the idea of putting up the tree before I've started, but once the boxes are out and there's no going back I think it's fun. It helps that I put the tree in a corner so I only have to decorate the visible half.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite decorating tradition is putting John Cena in his Santa hat and festive red scarf. He got a Christmas apron last year but he actually never took it off all year long, so I don't know if it counts as part of his Christmas outfit anymore.
I think it's perfect! I love all the little details, and how well they go together. Great job!
ReplyDeleteYour space looks festive and beautiful! Dang it...if we didn't have our two littles, we might skip the tree. I love love love that Paris was your gift :) Thanks for letting us around your place and for setting up your fake tea service :P
ReplyDeleteLove your innovative decorations. Your dining room table is very festive -- and I LOVE the new rug!!! We just have a table top Christmas tree this year, too.
ReplyDeleteWe never put up a tree when we had a condo. We get a real tree now, and the whole thing is definitely a hassle, but it's the one big holiday decorating thing we do and totally worth it. I seem to keep adding to my Christmas decoration collection. At some point, I'll start to run out of space...
ReplyDeleteI don't have a tree either. I do have some ornaments, and I might try to do some christmas crafting tomorrow. I do like trees, but I have a small livingroom. Other than that, I hate the mess it makes...
ReplyDeleteI haven't put up a tree for about 3 years now. Much for the same reasons you mentioned...no one sees it but us. There are never any presents under it. And it's just too much of a pain...lol!
ReplyDeleteI do have a pinecone garland above one window and a few ornament hung throughout the house, but that's as far as I'm getting this year.
Yes, you do have trees after all!
ReplyDeleteI do love a tree...however....
I have two trees up this year. They both have lights (which is what I love best) and no ornaments. I haven't decided yet whether to put any on. I may put some on the small tree because that's my snowman tree and I love all those ornaments. We'll be gone for a week before Christmas and I've been so incredibly busy with everything else.
I love all your festive touches!
