sandwich bar playbook // pineapple salsa // commercial bingo |
Let's do the games first. I've never played one at a Super Bowl party before, but that's because I actually watch the football. Our group always ends up REALLY invested in the outcome, so we pay attention. But I think having some games on hand is a good option for people who are less
As for the food, I'm going to break it down into two categories: things that are relatively healthy and things that are... not. I think it's nice to have a mix of both.
mini meatball sandwiches // seven-layer dip |
On the healthy side of the coin, I found some pineapple salsa (which is pictured in the first group--I want to lick my screen), roasted poblano guacamole, and a seven-layer dip that gets bonus points for the idea of serving it in individual cups. I'm also a fan of a sandwich bar, mainly for the sake of customizing my food, and you can add playbook symbols to the table cloth as a way of labeling the ingredients.
It wouldn't be the Super Bowl if I didn't tell you about greasy stuff, too, so I also found some recipes for mini meatball sandwiches, sausage and pepperoni pizza puffs, and buffalo wings. And just because they're adorable, some chocolate-covered strawberries that look like tiny footballs. Cuuuute.
So are you excited about the game? Are you having people over? What stuff do you like to eat at these parties?
We are usually very excited for super bowl Sunday. This year does't feel quite the same. Maybe it's because our Pats were so close and then just did so awful against Denver. Hopefully we'll be going to my sisters to eat lots of yummy food. I've love to make a mean plate of nachos! Honestly I'm actually really looking forward to the Olympic Opening Ceremonies instead!
ReplyDeleteIf it makes you feel any better, I'm rooting for the Seahawks!
DeleteI usually lock myself in my studio while to boys watch the game. I do love the colorful and fun looking food though!
ReplyDeleteOh, that dip! It looks heavenly.
ReplyDeleteLike Marieken I love that 7 layer dip - yum!
ReplyDeleteSorry to say, but I'm more into baseball :)
The dip is totally my favorite thing, too, because it's the closest to nachos. Haha.
DeleteI'll probably have the game on. I'm cheering for Denver but I'm not gonna freak out if they lose. I honestly do not feel like leaving the house that day. We might go to my boyfriend's brother's house (I don't wanna go lol!)
ReplyDeleteBecause I worked nights for 10 years and Jesse still works nights, we haven't caught the big game in a long time! But I love these recipes...that 7 layer dip looks yummy and I love it in individual containers!
ReplyDeleteI'm a Pats fan, so I'll will be bitterly watching the game.....

I honestly can't remember the last time I saw any of the Super Bowl! It might have been about 5 years ago. It's funny because I'm in Hawaii this year so it happens much earlier in the day than I'm used to.
ReplyDeleteI'm really not into football. Like.. I don't even understand it so I don't plan on going anywhere. I'll probably be at my friend's place again to watch Sherlock so maybe I'll arrive early but no real plans to watch the game. I do like these recipes for any other day though!
ReplyDeleteAs excited as I am for all of the football-related shenanigans on Sunday, it BETTER be over in time for Sherlock. Let's be real here.
DeleteWhat fun! Love those tiny footballs. And the Bingo game looks fun. I'll be spending Super Bowl Sunday at the tax office, sad to say.
ReplyDeleteChocolate footballs are very clever! and the dip in individual cups, too!
ReplyDeleteI may have to make that salsa!
