I Hate You, Winter

A show of hands, who's getting REALLY tired of this winter? Normally I'm pretty ambivalent about cold weather--it's kind of hard to avoid when you live in Chicago--but seriously. For real. Ain't nobody got time for this. I still haven't been to school this semester because they keep closing campus. Hubsey and I both stayed home for several days in a row (because we don't want frostbite), which was kind of fun for a while, but then I started doing really out-of-character things like making my own granola bars.

So, it's been weird. This must be cabin fever.

The granola bars were good, though, in case you were wondering. I used this recipe.

Anyway, I've decided that my new coping mechanism is going to be straight-up denial. Cold weather, what? Nope. Not here. It's time for flats and dresses again. Look at how well I can ignore common sense and shop for spring clothes!

green flats  //  purse  //  blue flats  //  earrings  //  dress  //  blouse

Yep, it's totally time to wear all of this!

But really, I'm digging the coral blouse; that's a really flattering color on most people. And you could actually wear the earrings and carry that purse right this second. The shoes are a little ambitious for -30 wind chills, but I could see the dress being okay with some tights and a cardigan in a couple of weeks. I like the modern interpretation of plaid.

I know everybody else is sick of this winter, too. How are you dealing? Pretend shopping? Looking at pictures of the beach? Who else really wants that coral blouse?

  1. I'm definitely shopping. I bought 4 new pairs of shoes for $165-- amazing deal I thought! Plus, I hadn't bought shoes since we were in Sydney in September which is a record, I believe. Either way, they are all definitely warmer weather shoes. I'll probably wear a pair in Charleston next month, but the others will have to wait til March when it starts warming up again. So pretty, yet I can't even wear them. Sheesh, I really do have shoe issues! And cabin fever for that matter.

    1. That IS a good deal! And I feel like spending that much at once is totally justified if you haven't bought any since your trip.

  3. Nice things! I don't deal well with cold weather, like physically or emotionally. I guess I do envy people who seem unfettered by cold temps because my body just does not handle it well, and I have to limit my time outdoors. But it is supposed to warm up this weekend, at least for a couple days, so that's good! :)

  4. I've definitely been doing a lot of window shopping. I know compared to Chicago, Texas is not as cold, but for us the 25-degree weather is very unusual, let alone ice on the roads.

    I really like that dress!

  5. Oh sweet, sweet warm weather clothes. I actually did an "I hate winter" post today too, although mine was "I must find some positive in my most hated of seasons."

  8. We moved to Oregon to get away from winter climate, so I feel bad, because we know what it's like, but we're not stuck in it here... I wish you days of sunshine and warm enough weather to melt that crazy snow! And I posted a few pics of spring on my blog, if it helps. :) xo.

  9. SO tired of winter. Yuck. Just counting down the days here. Once we hit March it's not so bad, and that's only like four weeks away, right?

    1. Oh man, we've had snow in March before. The way things are going, I'm sure it'll happen again this year. Womp, womp.

  10. Being in Atlanta where it SUPPOSED to be warm by now, I'm most definitely tired of the cold. With this little mini 'blizzard' we just had that froze the whole city has made my cold tolerance very very low. Be thankful for snow plows and salt trucks in your city. ;o) I can't wait till I can whip out all of my sundresses and sandals and let my hair billow in the warm winds. Summer, please hurry this way! lol.

  12. Great pics. Love the flats and the bag and the coral blouse. I don't have the figure for the dress anymore, but I also love the modern interpretation of plaid. My daughter could pull off that look beautifully.
I am SO, SO tired of Winter!!!!! Not coping well, I'm afraid :-(. But I haven't resorted to making homemade granola bars :-). Eating a lot of trail mix at the tax office -- it's lunch and supper some days.

  13. This winter has been the worst, and that is coming from someone who spend four years commuting 45 minutes each way to work on country roads. The relentless cold and snow is really wearing on me. Thinking about spring and summer clothes is a nice change of pace. Both of those shoes are really adorable.

  14. cute shoes!
I am over Winter. It's (usually) OK till about mid January. Then the novelty has worn off.
I will say that although it's been extra cold this Winter, the sun has actually been shining a lot more. I think I can handle the cold better than dark, gloomy, dreary concrete days.
And in just a few weeks, I'll be going south where it's much warmer and sunny. That's my coping mechanism.
