Pinterest Picks

Happy Friday! And Happy Valentine's Day! Earlier in the week I intended to make this a themed roundeup of Pinterest Picks, but then I sat down to write and totally forgot. Sooo... just pretend all of these relate to the holiday. There are some pink and red things below, so it's close enough. Let's get started.

I hate it when I see something I love and want to buy it, but then discover it was a random find at an antique mall somewhere--because we all know that's code for "you'll never find one." LE SIGH. I wanted that gray and red blanket at the foot of the bed. To make it even more devastating, the lucky woman who bought it only paid $35. Sniffle.

Mmmm, curried lentil and kale soup with mushrooms. Doesn't that make you feel warmer just thinking about it? (Yes. Yes it does.)

Place card holders made out of wine corks! This is happening. For a while my friends and family brought me their old corks because I planned to get crafty with them and never did. That was, like, two years ago and I still have a few bags of them in my office. So, this will take care of at least eight. Baby steps.

I'm in the market for a light-colored blazer to wear in the spring. At first I was thinking tan, but then this black and ivory one showed up and now I don't know what I want. Maybe I'll just buy two and then it won't be an issue. (Boom! Look at those problem-solving skills.)

If I could magically renovate the kitchen at no cost to us, I'd choose these exact finishes. Which should not surprise you. Sometimes white kitchens can look kind of clinical, but the butcher block counter tops and dark hardware really warm this one up. Bonus points for the enamelware on the shelves.

So what are you up to this weekend? We might move some furniture around upstairs and there's been talk of seeing the Lego movie. As for Valentine's Day, we're doing the usual dinner-and-exchanging-of-cards. Anybody else going out tonight? And I know some of you just got slammed with snow--how's the weather in your neck of the woods?

  1. Happy Valentine's Day! We won't go out to dinner tonight- too snowy now for one thing and too crowded for another, plus our anniversary is Sunday so we decided we'll go out alone next weekend!

That blanket is such a score! Good for her but bummer for us. I actually just pinned an outfit that has a tan blazer and it looked so simple and chic, so that's what I'm going to be on the hunt for now. I may check Savers- they always have a ton of (usually old lady but you never know) blazers for cheap.

  2. I love that kitchen! I would love to have a very nice kitchen and space to cook in. I'm not quite sure what are plans are. We might go out to dinner but that all depends on what time Ryan will be heading back up from NC. It stopped snowing but my car is still buried. I might dig myself out just so I can leave the apartment for a bit. I'm getting stir crazy quite quickly this year.

  3. I'm so excited it's a three day weekend! You should definitely see the Lego movie! And I also love that blanket! Maybe woolrich will have something similar.... They are on the site all The Clymb often, at more than 50% off!

  4. I love lentil soup, but I've never had it with kale before. My kitchen is shaped like the one it the photo, it doesn't look that gorgeous though.... Happy Valentine's Day!

  5. I love that soup! Yum! Ha, I made cork placecard holders two years ago - these are a lot of fun :)
We've got sleet again today, so nope, not going out.

  6. Yeah we got a lot of snow and aren't going anywhere. Lots of great stuff here, as always.

Also, look at West Elm. They've got several throws/blankets that are grey or neutral with stripes. I think I remember seeing one that was grey and orange. Not exactly the same, but you might find something you like. And they're having a sale this weekend. :)

  7. The lentil and kale soup looks amazing and is all of my favorite foods tied into one. So thank you for that. Happy Valentine's Day!

  8. I know what you mean about those awesome finds you feel like you'll never make! My mom collects 19th century women's fashion books, bits of clothing when she can find them, and other similar things. Her friends are always so jealous when one of them gets a great deal on something at an antique shop!

  9. Nice picks! I love that red and gray blanket too...but don't worry! You'll find something better and cheaper, just watch!

I think we are ordering in Thai and watching an episode of Sherlock. Yay!

  11. Great pins! The cork name holders are very cool. Love that blazer, too. You might scout Etsy vintage shops for another gray striped blanket. I had an odd schedule today at my part-time day job. Since I didn't have to in until 10:00 am, hubsy and I had a Valentine brunch. Enjoy your night out.
