On the Cheap (Hopefully): Boots

It's official: the brown boots from last week are going back to Nordstrom. I tried on some work appropriate outfits with them and they just didn't mesh. I felt like Courtney Love. And as much as I love a good costume, I don't want to wear one everyday.

As fun as they were, if they don't go with the clothing I already have, then I need to say goodbye.
So it's back to the drawing board. Per Jennifer's suggestion in the comments yesterday, I checked out Victoria's Secret:

YES. This is exactly what I want but can never find. They're $158, but maybe they'll have a sale soon. If not, I may just buy them anyway.

I'm also toying with the idea of getting a pair with heels. These walk the line between work and play very nicely. $148.

These are a little Errol Flynn with that flap, but I kind of like how streamlined they are anyway. I also like the price: $109.

Where are your boots from? Any places I should skip? (I never have luck at Payless or Zappos, sadly.)

  1. Yes! Oddly enough my post today is about shoes! Go figure. I posted about a site that I recently started shopping on because the prices are hard to beat. UrbanOG.com (here is a link to their knee high boot section - http://urbanog.com/index_109_p1_s1_ipp999.html)
Keep in mind they aren't name brand shoes (hence why the are less expensive) but they are still super cute!

  2. This is going to sound weird but try L.L.Bean. The quality has been great for me and the newer options are very pretty. I also love the 100% guarantee, so even after you wear them for a season and if a zipper breaks (which it shouldn't) you can take them back for a new pair.

  3. You can also try QVC (it's not just for old-er women :) and Famour Footwear (I think they are currently offering a BOGO.)

  5. I have to say, I'm a Nine West girl for dressy boots (generally at the outlets or DSW). DSW generally has good deals and good brands, if you have one near you.

  6. I have not purchased boots in a while (well dress boots anyway). I love the last pair that you posted with the low heel. Good luck in finding the perfect pair at the perfect price!

  7. Kristen, I did find a pair I liked at DSW, but they were still $150. My goal is $100 or less, but I might just have to splurge!

  8. My favorite pairs of boots came from vintage shops. I have a hard time finding ones I like that are new. I do like the last boots that you showed!

  9. These are cute! The ones I found were similar to the grey ones in the last picture. I hope the ones you love go onsale! If you have to splurge, well, it'll probably be worth it at least :)

  10. Ooooohhhhh I love boots! Sadly, I think I'm going to miss them a lot soon as we're moving to the south in a couple of weeks :-((

  12. I love the pair with no heel, exactly what I look for every fall/winter and never seem to find!

  13. I LOVE boots. Unfortunately, I never get a chance to wear them being so dang hot in FL most of the year. All three pairs you featured here rock. My problem with most boots is that I need to have good arch support & cushioning and they usually just have flat insoles. =(
