Summer of Savings: Update

Naturally when I know I can't do something, that's when I'm most interested in it. I haven't broken any of my self-inflicted shopping rules yet, but I was extra enthusiastic about all forms of sparkly and/or pretty things this weekend. After the show on Saturday I was a little heat-weakened zombie (90 degrees! All day!), so I ate some ice cream, watched the Celtics shamefully lose to the Heat, and did some online window shopping.

I opened Pandora's box.

This was the dress I saw first. I always keep an eyeball out for cute dresses, since I have kind of hard time finding ones that are long enough, yet also flatter all of my weird body parts. I think this one would be magical, AND it's only $36!

Obviously, I had to keep looking around.

So then I found a cutesy blush blouse for $39--perfect for wedding shows or wholesale meetings:

And look! I could wear it with this white midi skirt, $46:

And this mocha flowered (I almost typed "flavored," ha) dress is just lovely. It's a little fancier than what I normally need, but at $69 it's a good price for evening wear:

When I did shopping challenges like this in the past, they were only for 30 days. So by now I'd be all, "Look! I'm almost halfway through!" But this time it's like, "Hey... I'll be 1/6 of the way... on Friday..."

Le sigh. I suppose it's time to distract myself so my willpower doesn't crumble like a stale cookie.

How was your weekend? Anybody else suffer through the heat? Or do some online shopping, real or imaginary?

  1. That last dress is gorgeous! I don't know many women who could rock that first dress and you my friend are one of them! 36 bucks is a great price for sure. And that midi-skirt...swoon! Dorothy Perkins is dangerous whether you're on a shopping ban or not! I "try" to stay clear unless it pay day...or I just got a tax return :p The heat is AWFUL...even worse...the humidity here in Florida. And yees I did so some online shopping :)

  3. Love those finds...that white dress is amazing!
I ended up soaking up the heat reading on the back porch all weekend! I found a free kindle book on amazon about the natural and historical history of Niagara Falls written in the late 1800's....very cool book! I think the imaginary water of the falls kept me cool while I was reading!!!

  4. That bottom dress is amazing. I'd say you have pretty strong willpower, especially taunting yourself and all ;). It was cold in Sab Francisco so yes, it was a bit of a shock dealing w/90 degrees here yesterday. I hid inside.

  5. Wow. The last dress. And the white skirt, and the first dress! How cute! If I lived somewhere else, "more civilized" and not in the woods I would definitely have had many shopping problems. But now the trees don't care :D

  6. Great finds! I wish I could buy some clothes right now. I'm so over my wardrobe.
It was 98 degrees here yesterday and everyone was driving like jerks! Oh hot summer days.

  7. I love the last dress. I would totally buy that. We had a quiet weekend here, not too much heat, but I did a lot of trading from the Trade-A-Holics team event. I've got some new bling headed my way. Does trading count as buying?

    1. I actually think trading would be totally fair game! You're not spending any money, yet you're getting awesome new-to-you things.

  9. I had that same shirt bookmarked in my things I probably don't need but want to buy anyway folder. Haha. Maybe I will anyway; it's pretty cheap, and I do need new clothes. I also have the same problem finding dresses that are long enough. The past few years have been a struggle when every dress I think is cute barely covers my butt and I look like I raided my 6-yr-old niece's closet. I think they are all actually petite length! Pants on the other hand have been getting crazy long. I used to have to order tall size pants, now the regulars are often too long! I guess everyone but me regularly wears 6-inch heels or something.

    1. Oooh, where are you finding these magically long pants? Maybe I'm shopping in the wrong places, but I still have to buy extra length everywhere I go.

  10. The green dress is so cute, and a great price! Good for you for refraining from purchasing it. If it is meant to be it will still be available when you are ready to make your purchase, and it will be on sale. That's why I don't window shop when I am trying to not spend any money, I always find good stuff.
