12 in 2012: Final Results

How did we get here? How is it possibly New Year's Eve already?! Thanksgiving was three seconds ago and now it's the last day of the year. Guess I'd better recap those 12 in 2012 goals before time runs out. Overall, I'm happy with how things went. I dropped the ball in a couple of places, but if I were giving myself a grade for general organization, I think a solid B+ is in order. Let's have a look:

1. Exercise everyday. Ugh, this one was bad. I did okay during the first half of the year, but then we moved and it's like the fitness part of my brain got left behind. (And maybe it did, because my bro-in-law lives in our old condo now and he's suddenly all into yoga, which was my sport of choice.)

2. Cook more. Success! I wasn't sure how well this would go, since we all know I prefer food that magically appears on my plate, but I actually taught myself a few new dishes and bust out real ingredients about three times a week.

3. Stop working 24/7. I'll give myself a high-five for this one, too. I left my laptop at home the last two times I traveled, and I took a whole week off for Christmas. Definitely doing this more often.

4. Go back to school. Check! The new semester starts January 10th.

5. Get a new computer. This only kind of happened. My old Macbook finally stopped working (random black screen syndrome) but instead of shelling out for a new one plus Photoshop, I'll be using Hubsey's "old" machine. He got a fancy new one at work and doesn't use the other anymore. It was sitting there sad and neglected, so now it's mine.

6. Get rid of my old computer from college. Whoops. Forgot! I'll, uh, get to that soon.

7. Organize my office. Again. Not only did I organize things in the condo before we moved, but I did it again in the new house. Double points! Or maybe I can use some of this mojo to counteract the college computer...

8. Find new art shows. I did Indie Wed! It was so cute.

9. Reach 650 sales in Little White Chapel and 100 in Oh Nostalgia. I'm all giddy when I think about this one. Little White Chapel did slightly better than I expected with 662 sales to date, but Oh Nostalgia TOTALLY blew things out of the water. Forget 100 sales, she got to 134.

10. Paint the living room. Well, we moved before I got to it, but I did paint the bathroom in the new house. So I'll count it.

11. Read more historical fiction. Done and done. I read The Light Between Oceans last week, among other things.

12. Relax. Like I mentioned above with the computer leaving and the vacation taking, I've made great strides. In fact, I was spray painting the other day when a spider crawled out from underneath some cardboard. Normally I scream (it was RIGHT next to me) but this time I only whispered, "ohmygodohmygod" while I stepped on it. That, folks, is progress.

How did you do in 2012? Any major accomplishments crossed off the list? Who else forgot to exercise after a while? What was your favorite resolution? Everybody have a great last day of 2012 and I'll be back tomorrow with a new list of goals for 2013.

  1. Great job on your goals this year! You must be so proud of your shops, and doing that while going to school AND moving is a definite accomplishment. Plus making time for yourself is always good. We forget to think about ourselves most often.

  2. Wow, you've met most of your goals this year, Paige!
As usual, I need to exercise more. I've exceeded my sales goal in my Dawanda shop, and I have helped more animals in need this year as well :)
wishing you a happy, healthy and successful new year!

  3. I always need to exercise more but my challenge is finding the time. Although thanks to Pinterest, cooking has become more fun and finding more healthy dishes to make. I hope to find new shows (and shops) to sell in 2013 too.

Sounds like you did pretty good this year Paige! Kudos!! :) Hope you have a great 2013!

  7. Sounds like you did really well this past year! I used to always say I'm going to exercise more at the beginning of the New Year but it was always a fail. This time I'm just going to try to watch what I eat more to lose the weight I've gained over the semester. I actually did a New Year recap post a few days ago. I think my favorite resolution was going back to school. I was happy that I went back and now I'm done.

  11. Congrats on all the sales...I want to be like you! My favorite is the progress in the spider relaxation department. I'm working on this too. Today I cleaned up barf out of the crib and poop out of the tub and didn't even say "eww" once. Being a mom does funny things to ya! Happy New Year!!!
