Wish List 2012

So in the midst of all of these Handmade Holidays posts, I realized that I still haven't talked about what I'm eyeballing for Christmas this year (or my birthday, which is Sunday).

xmas 2012
Pardon that bizarre white strip on the side. I... don't even know how I did that.

1. Hanging terrarium, $12 -- I'm quite skilled at killing plants that need regular attention, so succulents and moss are a good route.

2. Rose cut moissanite earrings, $212 -- A smidge pricier than what I normally ask for, but these are something I could wear for the rest of my life. Very simple and pretty.

3. Yellow pillow set, $48 -- Now that we have a gray couch, I keep leaning toward yellow for the rest of the room. These would be bright and cheerful paired with what we already have.

4. Vintage robot chart, $20 -- I don't think I need to explain why this is awesome.

5. Advanced Potions notebook, $25 -- It's a toss up between the robot and this notebook for Most Awesome Gift Idea of 2012. A blank journal designed to look like your very own Advanced Potions textbook, a la Harry Potter. NEED.

6. Beethoven bust, $54 -- I might be married to a guy with a decorative animal fixation, but I have my own weird thing: busts of famous composers. And not just regular busts, busts of many colors. I want them all, but I'll start with Ludwig since he's my fave.

What are you asking for this year? Anything on my list catch your eye? Oh! In unrelated merriment, have you seen the video of Jimmy Fallon and Mariah Carey singing "All I Want For Christmas Is You?" It's pretty much the most adorable thing ever, so if you have some time to kill...

Fun, right? Now let's go talk about presents in the comments.

  1. What you wrote about plants made me laugh! Try as I might, I'm just no good with indoor plants...sadly they all die. Maybe I should give succulents a try too :)
    Love Nr. 4!

  2. I love the earrings! I also have similar simple earrings on my list - just in royal blue saphire!

  3. I have a post scheduled next week for a living room arrangement, and I ALMOST put that pillow set on it!! After consideration, I chose an apple pillow instead haha. My family is doing a draw this year, so each person gets someone to buy one gift for. I would have hated this as a kid, but I'm actually excited about it. So much less stress!

  4. Love the pillows! And you're right, they'll go great on the gray couch.
I'm pretty boring, I'm not asking for anything for Christmas. We don't do much gift exchanging anymore. Time with my family is really all I need :) My parents get here on Saturday and my mom and I will be shopping, eating out, getting our nails done, going to the casino, watching movies...pretty much until New Years Day! That's all I need :)

  5. all I have on my list are jewelry making tools and movies. It's highly probable that I won't get any of those items. I really like the advanced potions book. So cute. I would look super cool at the cafe holding that one up.

  6. Very fun! Those hanging terrariums are lovely. And I only care for head busts when they're painted funky colors. I better get a list together even though it's way too late for me this year to get any of it lol!

  7. Those earrings are so beautiful. The color is lovely and the design is really classic. I agree, you would be able to wear them forever.

  8. I have one living indoor plant! :) The items you picked are just lovely. For me it's either the Robot Poster or the Earrings and jewelry usually wins out! :)

  9. I love your picks! Especially the earrings and the hanging terrariums. I really want to add lots of green to my house, plants, botanicals, whatnot.
Happy early birthday!!! I hope you have an excellent trip too. xoxo

  10. You have just made my night! I LOVED everything about that "cheesy video!" First, that is one of my favorite Christmas songs, second, I love Mariah, and third, look at everyone in that video. The kids are adorable and the adults, just cracked me up. This is a keeper!

PS....I kill every plant! I'm not allowed to have them any more. Someday I'll blog about the time I killed all the annuals in our yard right before my daughter's wedding reception that was held in our yard.

  15. All of your picks are awesome! Usually I put together an Etsy wish list, but I have been a little bit scattered this year. (Who isn't by December 17, right?) I hope that you had a great birthday!
