Hubsey and I spent Easter weekend in Indianapolis. He and his dad sparked the idea for the trip back when they got NCAA tickets and it snowballed from there. My sister lives in Indy, so obviously I used the excuse to go hang out with her, then my mother-in-law decided she'd better come along, too, and then my parents said they would drive over from southern Illinois. Plus, Hubsey's old roommate lives there now, too, and joined us for a while. It was a party!
I meant to take more pictures, but I usually forget about my camera when I'm in the middle of having fun. Thank god for Instagram, because it reminded me to get a few things.
This taco salad from 3 Sisters Cafe turned out to be more like nachos featuring some lettuce, which was secretly fine with me because I wanted nachos but there weren't any on the menu. Score.
Those of us who were hotel-bound stayed near something called Monument Circle, which is one of my favorite places in the whole city. This was the view from the 18th floor:
I also picked up some snazzy new shoes on Thursday before we left, but it ended up being kind of drizzly and wet Easter morning so I didn't get to wear them. (Of course, the sun came out an hour later when I was several blocks away from my bag. Oh, nature!)
We got back yesterday and I concluded my holiday weekend by eating a cheese and fruit plate while watching a documentary about prison gangs. I was supposed to be doing my homework, but the National Geographic channel has a lot of good stuff on Netflix and I got distracted...
How was your long weekend? Anybody else have a non-traditional Easter celebration?
That salad looks so good, Paige! Yum :)
ReplyDeleteFabulous new shoes too!
What awesome looking nachos! It's cool everyone got to get together.
ReplyDeleteFor Easter I didn't work for the first time in 7 years. Hanging out with my family was pretty unconventional for me! It was great.
I love those shoes! Your "salad" looks great, as well!

A documentary about prison gangs, huh? That'a pretty non-traditional, for sure!! Sounds like you had a great family get-together!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun getaway! The hotel view shot is great, and your salad looks amazing. So jealous that you got to see NCAA basketball in person.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a fun weekend! We don't really celebrate Easter - ours consisted of eating pasta and watching Walking Dead. My sister and I did dye eggs on Friday so I guess that counts? :) PS LOVE the yellow flats.
ReplyDeleteTotally counts.
DeleteSounds like it was a very enjoyable weekend! Love your new shoes, perfect color for Spring.

Everyday Inspired
We celebrate both a traditional Easter with family and a more nature based day. We had lots of fun eating eggs, spending the day with Spring, and consuming massive amount of sugar. :)
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a fun weekend, as well! Love those shoes. Definitely going to head over to your instagram and connect.
Sounds like an awesome weekend! Family + Friends + Good Food...count me in! And the shoes are an awesome score...yes, I said awesome :)
ReplyDeleteThat does look more like nachos than salad, haha. I've never been to Indianapolis; it looks like a fun town. :)
ReplyDeleteIt rained here on Easter and I'm also sick, so I spent a lot of time watching netflix too.
fruit and cheese and prison gangs? It must be genetic! I once spent New Year's Eve with asian apple pears, cheese, and a Lockup marathon. "Staying in this New Year's? So are these guys." Who could resist a teaser like that?
ReplyDeleteThat's a great shot of Monument Circle!
ReplyDeleteAww, I'm from Indianapolis. Great to see some pictures from home. And I just love Monument Circle. So many memories!
