Etsy Finds: Paris Part 2

We leave for Paris in two weeks. TWO WEEKS! Oh my god. I'll try not to yell in your face the whole time, but I'm so pumped I can't make any guarantees. Imagine a lot of squealing and hand flapping on my end of the conversation.

Oh--and before I get totally ahead of myself, I should stop referring to it as "the Paris trip" because now it's actually Paris with a smidge of Dublin! I'll spare you the long, boring story but basically our airline bumped our connection, so instead of being in Dublin for an hour to change planes, we now have nine hours of bonus time in the land of Jameson and wool sweaters. Holler!  In honor of our new agenda, I did some poking around on Etsy and found more France/Ireland-related goodies to share.

I'd love to hit up some antique stores and flea markets in Paris. This mirror is an especially lovely representation of that, but I'm not sure how I'd ever get something this big home. (See, this is why science needs to get teleportation figured out.)

Along those same old-timey lines, this is a vintage encyclopedia page about dinosaurs. In French. Two of my least alike favorites finally converge.

Cute French labels for kitchen canisters! I'm proud of myself for knowing all of these words already, haha. At least I'll be able to tell the waiters how I take my coffee.

We won't have a ton of time in Dublin, but I'd like to snag a little souvenir for the house. They're very much into luck over there, so something like a horseshoe might find its way back.

While I was poking around on Etsy, I came across a lot of Irish blessings like this one. They were all really cute, and I'm kind of bummed that we don't have any popular sayings like this around here. Maybe if we all start using it it'll catch on...

We aren't totally sure what we're doing in Dublin yet but we do plan to leave the airport for a while. France is a little more planned out, but we still have plenty of downtime to explore. I've been warned that all of the street corners look the same, so I'm being crazy and mapping directions to several landmarks before we even get there. #overplannerforthewin

I'll do a real post for you about all of our planning and prep, but in the meantime, any recommendations for cool stuff to see in Dublin? Do you have any big trips coming up?

  1. So jealous you get to throw in some Ireland time. Ireland is on my list of places to visit!! No big trips for us except to visit family in New York. We will be in Westchester (a very ritzy suburb) so maybe that will be it's own adventure.

  2. I love the mirror. If you do like museum trips, Musée d'Orsay is a museum I really enjoyed visiting. And if you're planning on visiting the Louvre, I've heard from a friend that there should be a second entrance, which not many people know about. That might be worth investigating :-) I wanted to go to the Louvre, but didn't go eventually because the line was huge. No one told me about the other entrance back then.

  4. I studied French for three years (not that I can speak it anymore) so I always wanted to go to Paris, and my dad's side is Irish so I've always wanted to go there too! That sounds like a wonderful trip, I'm having a hard time not being jealous!

  10. I haven't been to Ireland, but we spent a week in Paris a few years ago and it was just as amazing as everyone says. Which neighborhood are you staying in? We rented an apartment by the Bastille but it's really easy to get around everywhere. Plus I finally got to put my (very dusty) French minor to use. So excited for you!
